We don't really comment on political parties or any of that as a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit.

However, I believe a phased in implementation will move us closer to a healthcare system in which everyone is covered. I realize given the political climate at the moment, a complete change will not work. We should make little steps over the next 10-20 years to get to that point where everyone is covered, costs are lower, and outcomes are better.

A socialist system, although efficient, is not very likely to happen in our near future. But a good, healthy insurance reform/oversight to fix the giant holes in our current system to extend real coverage to every American is an achievable stepping stone. Unfortunately, the increasingly radically conservative republican party and those whom identify with them would rather put blinders on and fight to the death to keep a busted system the same rather than consider solutions from a group of people with opposing values. thats like driving a bus full of children off a cliff rather than take driving directions from someone they disagree with. the fear of change is a powerful obstical to overcome in equality, healthcare reform, and every other social issue. knowledge is the answer to fear, but sometimes its hard to communicate ideas to people that do not share our experiences. step 1: eliminate fear step 2: make social issues everyones issue by demonstrating how it effects them. Acceptance is attainable, but not without us accepting them first. :)

Thank you for your feedback! That also lets me know that the Facebook Comment plugin works good lol. In a perfect world, each person could cover themselves with their own employer's insurance. It could be better to just insure everyone through socialized medicine, which the term always has a negative connotation. Healthcare is a large sector of the economy and very unique. People will utilize healthcare with or without insurance. That will cause everyone to pay higher premiums. We would be better off moving to a system like Canada, the UK, or France.

This would solve the issue of LGBT inequality in healthcare, and work as a way to make our system more efficient. Healthcare doesn't work too well in the United States because we have worse outcomes and pay more per capita. We have a more capitalistic system, and healthcare is unique because it doesn't react to capitalism too well. More competition can be bad in healthcare and actually increase overall prices. This is what is currently going on. We have a private system that is broken.

It is our belief at TEAM, consistent with the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that "healthcare is a human right." Everyone is "entitled to it." This is one instance that the government or not-for-profit sector might be better at managing something.

As far as Prop 8, the marriages performed beforehand are still recognized. However, the federal law DOMA prevents LGBT people from benefiting from over 1,000 different rights and tax-deductions.

I see that the judge had declared the denial of coverage discriminatory, but were the benefits then extended to the gentleman's partner? Although prop. 8 passed, are the marriages preformed before hand still recognized? Of course equality is the issue at hand, but on a broader level, a restructuring of the healthcare system and insurance coverage would benefit Every American. People getting married for coverage reasons and seniors getting legal divorces to protect their assets prior to dealing with the medicare system should not have to occur. Equality is a battle I tackle every single day with every interaction at my extremely conservative work place, but comprehensive, affordable, accessible health care coverage is a fight that gays and straights can fight together. In a perfect world, that gentleman's partner should have access to his own health coverage without the assistance of of his partner's employer.

Fact: Racism still exists in America.
Fact: Reverse discrimination (handouts & special treatment) exists in America.
Fact: Poverty is a major issue in America.
Fact: 99% of DNA in all humans is the same, making just 1% what determines our skin color.
Obvious: Racism is wrong and those who are intolerant will always be wrong.
Poverty runs across the board, racially, and those who are born into it have a shot at getting out. Staying off drugs and getting an education are all possible.

The facts that in this article are simply facts. They cannot be blamed for being racist because they just stated the facts. If you can't hear the facts, maybe you should re-examine yourself.

This country was founded on freedom and because of that, many different types of people are attracted live here. I have faith that we will be racially tolerant one day and that race won't be a factor.

PS. condescending words, passive aggressive behavior, and labeling people based on race further perpetuate the cycle of racism.

It's appropriate time to make a few plans for the longer term and it is time to be happy. I have read this submit and if I may just I desire to counsel you few attention-grabbing issues or advice. Perhaps you could write subsequent articles relating to this article. I wish to learn more issues about it!

I am writing a story on the new iPhone application by Brushfire Mobile which will help tackle human trafficking. Do you think such an initiative will help curb the evil to any extent?
